President Words
Dear BGSA Members and Friends,
It is with great humility that I have accepted the office of President of the Georgia Tech Black Graduate Student Association (GT BGSA). It has already been an exciting journey with the new BGSA Executive Board. We have been working hard over the past few months to make the 2009-2010 school year an exemplary year.
This year’s theme for GT BGSA is “Take L.E.A.D.” L.E.A.D. stands for Leadership Empowering through Action and Development. This year, I am challenging everyone to take ACTION in our communities through service, social projects and partnerships with other organizations to achieve common goals. My vision is for the BGSA to participate in all Georgia Tech-sponsored social action events and a yearlong specific community service project.
We must also focus on the DEVELOPMENT of our membership, both academically and professionally. We must also develop our leadership team so we can work together to develop effective programming and a healthy environment for our membership. We must also focus on succession planning and the development of a leadership pool that continue the work of the BGSA. It is important to remember that this is OUR BGSA. Therefore, we must all work by involving ourselves in committee work and leadership training.
So, now, it is time for us to “Take L.E.A.D.” The 2009-2010 school year will be an exciting year as we move GT BGSA to the next level. As we progress forward this year, I encourage all of you to see the vision and work with the Executive Board as we implement the vision of “Take L.E.A.D.” Most importantly, I encourage you to bring your best to the table.
Empowering One Member At the Time,
Nathaniel W. Tindall, III
President, GT BGSA
